{"id":539,"date":"2021-05-03T16:24:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-03T15:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mathewparkin.co.uk\/?p=539"},"modified":"2025-05-30T15:10:17","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T14:10:17","slug":"cove-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mathewparkin.co.uk\/?p=539","title":{"rendered":"Cove Park"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cove Park\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/810600658?h=d9f3c5abc4&amp;dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">In May 2021, I undertook an <a href=\"https:\/\/covepark.org\/residencies\/experimental-film-moving-image-2021-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Experimental Film &amp; Moving Image residency<\/a> at Cove Park, supported by LUX Scotland and Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">During the residency, I researched public sex and its intersections with disability, engaged with the instructions from Nancy Holt and Robert Smithson\u2019s SWAMP (1969), and explored how bats navigate. This investigation included considering various types of recording devices and prosthetics. The residency was research-intensive, and I drew inspiration from T Fleischmann\u2019s 2019 text <a href=\"https:\/\/coffeehousepress.org\/collections\/essay\/products\/time-is-the-thing-a-body-moves-through\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Time Is the Thing a Body Moves Through<\/a>, which was kindly recommended by Jamie Crewe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Some of this research was shared during Glasgow International Festival at Bonjour, a new queer bar and community hub in Glasgow.
